About this speaker
Dr Maria Corbett is the Chief Executive of the Child Law Project, a specialist court reporting and research organisation. Established in 2012, it is an independent organisation funded by the Irish Government to bring transparency to child protection decision-making. The Child Law Project engages a panel of reporters who attend court proceedings and write a summary of the child protection cases they witness. A volume of individual court reports, written in a manner which protects the anonymity of the children, is published twice a year. The Project also publishes periodic reports analysing emerging trends and key concerns arising from these court reports. The aim of the Project’s work is to inform the public on the operation of child law in Ireland and promote debate on necessary reforms to support better outcomes for children and their families.
