Claudia de Luca
Public Prosecutor, Prosecutor's Office for Children in Naples
About this speaker
It is about 21 years that she has been a public prosecutor (the last 4 for the Prosecutor's Office for Minors in Naples) and has worked in various Italian judicial offices, having dealt with various crimes (against property, against the person and also of criminal organisations). In previous experiences, she had already dealt with minors and crimes committed against them (maltreatment in the family and sexual abuse). In this context, she has met young people who are permanently included in criminal organisations, responsible for murder even against their peers.
As a juvenile prosecutor, she has visited numerous communities in the area (as they have the task of carrying out six-monthly inspections) and she knows well what are the shortcomings that compromise the reintegration of the young person who made a mistake and / or of the injured person in society.
In her role, she has frequent contact with hospital and psychological doctors and, almost daily, with ministerial and territorial social workers, and has participated in regional inter-institutional meetings for the creation of an intervention network and the elaboration of protocols of intervention.
While at university, she had already worked, personally, with numerous non-profit associations that deal with social emergencies (elderly, homeless and even minors placed in family situations prejudicial to their growth, usually children of imprisoned parents) and had experienced firsthand what were -and still are- the critical issues connected to the possibility of making effective protection of those who need it most.
