
Hon. Justice Theresa Obot
JUDGE, HIGH COURT OF AKWA IBOM STATE Justice Obot is a widely known advocate for the rights and welfare of women and children and currently serves as both the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Family Court Judge in Akwa Ibom State judiciary.

Hon. Justice Theresa Obot graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor Degree in law in 1982 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983. She holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Jos. Justice Obot began her legal career working as a Prosecutor in the Department of Public Prosecution in the Ministry of Justice Calabar, Cross River in 1984. In 1985 she joined the Federal Ministry of Justice and was posted to head the Legal Aid Council Office in Jos, Plateau State. In 1990, she went into private legal practice initially as a junior partner in the Law Firm of C. Senlong & Co. and, as a Principal Partner in the Law Firm of T. Obot & Company in Jos, Plateau State.
In 1994, Justice Obot immigrated with her family to the United States of America as a Lawful Permanent Resident. She was called to the New York Bar in January 1999 and to the Maryland State Bar on 23rd June, 2000. His Lordship practiced law including as the Principal Partner in the Law Offices of Theresa I. Obot, LLC in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States of America.
In September 2008 she returned to Nigeria with her husband Professor Isidore S. Obot as the founding Director of Akwa Ibom Multi-Door Courthouse, a Court annexed alternative dispute resolution center.
In 2011 she was appointed and served as a ranking member of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Child Witchcraft Stigmatization and Child Abuse in Akwa Ibom State. On 30th May 2012 she was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court of Akwa Ibom State.
